Happy Giveaway Day! If you are not already aware,
twice a year Sew, Mama, Sew! hosts a giveaway day for handmade items and craft
supplies. My offering this year is seven fat quarters of Cotton + Steel fabric.
As a bonus, the winner will also receive a Seattle You Are Here ornament from
Starbucks. I don’t know about you, but sewing and coffee go hand-in-hand for
me!
Here are the details:
- To enter in the giveaway, please leave a comment on this post describing your favorite handmade gift to make.
- The giveaway will close at midnight PST on Friday, 12/12/14.
- I will randomly choose a winner and email them by Sunday, 12/14/14. If you are a no-reply blogger (or don't have a blog), please leave an email address in your comment. If I don’t hear back from the winner within 24 hours, I will randomly choose another winner.
- The package will be shipped by Tuesday, 12/16/14.
- Please be prepared to provide a US shipping address, as I will not be shipping internationally.
Oh dear. I don't have a specific favorite handmade gift to make, except maybe a bag. However, each year my family draws names and you have to make a handmade gift for whomever's name you draw. I have to make something for my cousin this year, and it has been a struggle to find good ideas. I thought I settled on one, and now I am thinking I will change it. Again :)

ReplyDeleteIt depends on the time of year/occasion for me. Around Christmas I like making handmade ornaments because I can do them for a lot of people without taking all year :) I also like making cute taoiletry sized bags with zippers and filling them with goodies.

I love to make quilts as gifts. It has to be special though because of the time involved. It is a neat gift as I think good thoughts of the recipient the whole time I make it and I think a gift filled with that kind of love is the best kind.

ReplyDeleteI love to cross-stitch Christmas ornaments. I hot glue the completed cross stitch to cardboard, then back it in felt and trim in cording, making sure to add a piece of ribbon to hang it with. Quick, fun, and not too bad on the fingers if you've got a low heat glue gun!

ReplyDeleteA gift I sometimes give for wedding showers is a set of holiday themed table runners, usually about 6 or 8 of them in a set. That way it can be enjoyed throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteSo far my favorite made gift has been a mini bean-bag set and drawstring carrying sack that I put together in linen [sack] and cottons [mini bean bags] with lentils inside... completely kid-safe and non-toxic, plus the little one loved them, flat-out. [There were small tussles between siblings, so it was good that I made lots of the minis.]

ReplyDeleteThis year my family will be getting a homemade Christmas sleight. You need 2 long candy canes and 1 kit kat bar to make the sleight. Then add layers of miniature herseys. Tie with ribbon and bow. It's cute and easy to make. I just love Cotton and Steel so your fat quarters will be appreciated and I will give them a good home.
